🎡 Listening to one of the oddest (and one of my favourite) World Music albums ever: Fly, Fly My Sadness (1996). A remarkable but successful collaboration between two very different musical cultures.

🎡πŸŽ₯ Monterey Pop (1968) β˜… β˜… β˜… β˜…

The documentary ends with a classic raga performance by Ravi Shankar. Perfectly captured on film and edited by D. A. Pennebaker, we see the audience slowly getting ecstatic by hearing these otherworldly sounds. A true 60s time capsule.

🎡 My favourite Rock album of 2019: Diabolique - l’Γ‰pΓ©e

My favourite Hip Hop/Rap album of 2019: GREY Area - Little Simz

My favourite Alternative album of the year 2019 is schlagenheim by black midi. A very unique sound with hints of Talking Heads, Long Fin Killie and Gavin Friday/The Virgin Prunes.

My best R&B/Soul album of the year 2019: Black Pumas

My favourite electronica album of the year 2019 has to be Utility by Barker. Contemporary, but also with nostalgic references to Monolake, Basic Channel, Plaid and other 90s predecessors.

🎡 I hadn’t heard of the tragic story following the death of Guru in 2010. Glad it all worked out eventually, mostly because of the perseverance of DJ Premier.

🎡 Concertino appears to be a very promising project, that wants to make Apple Music finally usable for classical music. Although the webapp is still very buggy on my iPhone… But an iOS app is in the works!

🎡 Music + Activism ❀️ Place: The Netherlands

”The Netherlands positions itself as progressive and open but to People of Colour and other minority groups it is very different. LGBTQIA+ refugees are the most marginalized and the most at risk.”
