๐ฑ The blauwe druifjes (grape hyacinths) in our garden are blooming remarkably long and beautiful this year. Probably due to the colder than average weather conditions the last couple of weeks.

๐ฑ Today, I saw several Bombylius Major (large bee-flies) sunbathing in our garden. Not a bee, but a fly in disguise:
The fly uses this mimicry of bumblebees to its own advantage, allowing close access to host solitary bee and wasp nests in order to deposit its eggs.
๐ฑ Apple tree in full bloom.
Just received two of these (tiny!) ESP32 CAM modules through the mail. Crazy cheap, built-in WiFi, Bluetooth and a more than decent camera for the purposes I will be using them for: installing them inside our hedgehog house for some live-streaming hedgehog extravaganza. ๐๐ฑ๐ฆ๐น
๐ฑ Plum flowers. Big chance we finally will get a good harvest this year (for the first time in 5 years.)
๐ฑ๐ Bumblebee queen feeding on our blooming almond tree (totally ignoring the prepared bumblebee houses right beneath it…)
๐ฑ๐ฆ Meanwhile our little hedgehog is still fast asleep, hibernating in its shelter. Couldnโt resist to take a peek inside…
๐ฑ ๐ Cleaning and preparing our bumblebee houses for the new season. Some people already spotted bumblebee queens flying around, so fingers crossed๐ค
๐ฑ Just a matter of days before the new gardening season breaks loose…
๐ฑ Had a nice day cleaning up our garden for the incoming winter. Our ๐ฆ guest is probably already asleep. Iโm amazed by the idea that there will be a living creature in there for months without eating and drinking…
๐ฆ๐ฑ Our little hedgehog is preparing for hibernation in our garden! Carrying leaves and other material inside its temporary house. I suspect this will be the last footage of this season, because it’s started freezing during the night.
๐ฆ๐ฑ New hedgehog adventures from our garden. Our adorable little hedgehog really seems to be preparing for hibernation. A lot of visits during the night and I think he / she sleeps there almost every day. Also, a nice cameo from our neighbour’s cat.
๐ฆ๐ฑ(This one is for @macgenie ๐) New footage from the hedgehog cam in our garden. The little creature seems to feel right at home in the new hedgehog house! Hopefully itโs also good enough to function as a hibernation nest this winter. ๐ค๐ป
๐ฆ ๐น๐ฑ First test with the hedgehog surveillance cam in our backyard turned out to be successful.
๐ฑ๐ฆ First prototype of my weather proof hedgehog surveillance cam is almost ready to be installed in our garden. The recording part is working well, the infrared motion sensor seems to behave a bit unpredictable. I wonder if itโs something with the code or hardware related.
Love working on these little side projects in the evening. Motion triggered Raspberry Pi Hedgehog surveillance camera for in our garden in the making ๐ฑ๐ท๐ฆ
๐๐๐ฆ๐ฑ We found new traces of hedgehogs in our garden, so, in the spirit of World Animal Day, my daughter and I installed our upgraded hedgehog feeding station this morning! Much better than last yearโs version. Next up: a Raspberry Pi-powered night vision wildlife camera!
๐ฑ๐ Autumn has arrived! First batch of patisson (pattypan squash) from our garden.
โIn fine cuisine, its tender flesh is sometimes scooped out and mixed with flavorings, such as garlic, prior to reinsertionโ
Canโt wait to start cooking them.
๐ฑ Blue emperor dragonfly resting on withered white roses.
๐ฑ Blooming Chinese meadow-rue in our garden.
๐ฑ First Indian Cress flower in our front garden.
Known for Das Elisabeth Linnรฉ-Phรคnomen. Its colour is so bright, it seems to emit flashes at dusk.
๐ฑ Freshly-harvested raspberries from our garden.
๐ฑ This year promises to be a record year for the raspberries in our garden.
๐ฑ Explosion of white roses in our garden.
๐ฑ๐ธToday, our tadpole-raising-mission came successfully to an end! We released the tiny little frogs next to a beautiful blooming yellow iris.
